Article Marketing - What is an autoresponder? Why do you need and autoresponder if you’re an article marketer?

Getting people to visit your website or blog using article marketing is only part of the story. If they just click away once they’ve read your information, how are you going to contact them again unless they liked what they saw enough to sign up for your RSS feed if they even know what that is?

If you want to succeed online you need an autoresponder

An autoresponder is a mail utility that automatically sends e-mail messages. You can use an autoresponder to

  • send information automatically when someone requests it and gives you their email address
  • send confirmation that you have recieved their message and will deal with their query

A sequential autoresponder allows you to repeatedly send out messages and make it easy to send sequential messages that link together such as chapters from an e-book or an e-course. Sequential autoresponders free up your time and can save you money. There is usually a small monthly fee.

Once a visitor has requested information, you can use your autoresponder to send out preloaded messages, this automatically keeps your name and services in front of them. It isn’t spamming because they voluntarily opted to receive your messages. And if you make sure you send useful information and hints and tips, and don’t bombard them with offers, they will want to stay on your mailing list.

Why do you need an autorepsonder?

Marketing research shows that most people need to be exposed to your business several times before they will even consider buying from you. If you have a blog or website, you need a way of keeping in touch with the people who find you. Otherwise they may just click away and never find your site again.

What can you offer your vistors? You need to give them a good reason to give you their email address and then follow up with useful information and invitations to buy from you. Though whatever you, don’t make them feel that they’re being sold to - people don’t like being sold to - softly does it…

Autoresponders can also bring in repeat business by keeping exisiting customers aware that you exist and giving them updates and invitations to buy again.

Autoresponders help you to build a database. They help you to see which of your offers and websites work best so that you can tweak and target your marketing. You can even use them to create a “membership site” (All blue text is a clickable link. Just click on the links for more information)

You can send unlimited autoresponses from any of your websites or blogs or newsletters for a low monthly fee. And if you want to send a broadcast email to everyone to make an announcement, you can do it in minutes using your autoresponder database.

Make sure that each email has a call to action and remember to put your signature at the bottom of all your autoresponder messages. Include your name, your business name, contact information, and a brief, personal message.

Here is a free resource and some recommendations to help you get started with autoresponders the right way.
