What is writer’s block?
Writer’s block is when you hit a brick wall because you can’t effectively put your thoughts in writing. It’s closely related to procrastination, and it will stop you dead in your tracks if you let it. Yet you can conquer writer’s block quickly when you know how. Let this be the day when you conquer writer’s block for good. Here are some tips to help you to get through the block and back on track to writing more articles quickly.
How can I overcome writer’s block?
Type your keywords into Google and see what other people have written about your topic. Or go to Ezine Articles and search for articles in your niche. Don’t copy the articles, just use them to spark ideas and get you in article writing mode again.
Change your surroundings
One of the first thing that many writers do when they’re struggling with writers block, is to change something. Even a relatively small change can make a big difference and get you writing again. If you work on a laptop, then try going to a coffee shop. If that’s not an option, then try moving to a different part of your house or office, or work in the garden. Often, a small change in environment can put you in a different frame of mind and help your thoughts to flow more easily.
Take a break and get a fresh perspective
You’re in charge of the writing process. If you’re struggling with part of your article, leave it and focus on something else. Replace it with something that inspires you more and concentrate on that. If you can’t write an introduction, do some brainstroming and write a list of bullet points or write the conclusion.
Just Write
Just write about anything that comes into your head. write anything you can think of. Sometimes, just getting your fingers moving is enough to spark your creativity.
Try stepping away from what you typically write about and write about what you see from your window, or what you had for dinner. Something like this can help to getting your creative juices flowing and may be the prod you need to write articles again.
Try a different approach
Try writing your article as though you were writing to your best friend. Don’t think about who your intended audience is, just write as though you are communicating with someone you know well. You might not be able to use this version, but it could be enough to prime the pump and snap you out of whatever is keeping you from writing. Try answering a question you are often asked, and explain step by step how to do something.
Don’t give up
Writer’s block is annoying but it won’t last forever. If you can step away from writing for a bit then read a book or take a walk. The more you stress over the situation, the more difficult it will seem. So, relax and read articles written by someone you admire. When you least expect it, your writer’s block will fade away. By taking a few minutes away from the stress you may find the words will flow back to you naturally.
You can start writing your next article today…start writing…just do it…make something happen. If what you are doing isn’t working, try doing something different, getting through writer’s block is easier than you think.
