Write Quality Articles

Don’t make the mistake of writing articles just to build incoming links and climb in the search engine rankings. This is a good reason to write articles but you want your article to work harder for you than that. When you write a quality article rather than a so so article, you will get even more incoming links because people will be more likely to use your articles on their web sites.

Good articles stand a chance of being published by large online and print publications. Mediocre articles won’t generate the same results. If you’re going to spend time writing and submitting articles, it’s worth making sure you have some excellent articles amongst your offerings. Make your articles work hard for you.

Position Yourself As The Expert

Everybody is  expert at something. If you know more than the person you are writing the article for, you are the expert. When you write articles, remember that you are an expert, believe it and let it show in your writing. Communicate your knowledge in simple, understandabe language. Write as you talk. If someone has already said what you want to say, write your article anyway. There are some people who will only hear the message through you. Remember, everyone is an expert to someone.

Make Your Author Resource Box Sell

I’ve covered this in other posts. Don’t make the mistake of writing an author box that’s about you. Concentrate on what’s in it for your reader and give them a good reason to click though to your website. Make sure you have a strong call to action. Be precise and concentrate on getting the reader to click through to your website.

If you want your article to sell what you’re offering, then you need to craft a great resource box. Another name for this is “author bio”; it’s the information immediately below your article body and is also known as your signature file.

What to include in your resource box

Your name

You’d be amazed at how many people don’t include their name in the resource box. I would suggest that you leave it until the end of your resource box. You’ll see why later.

Your website address

As an absolute URL, for example, http://www.articlewritingandmarketing.com

Your unique selling proposition

This is a few sentences that capture the essence of what makes your offering unique.

Your call to action

Once you’ve drawn your reader in, it’s time to invite them to buy from you or visit your website. I recommend that you have one specific call to action.

Some things you could include in your resource box

Your Ezine subscription address

You don’t want your reader to click through to your website and never return. It’s a good idea to offer them a good reason to give you their email address so that you can keep in touch and build up the know like and trust factor. People rarely buy on the first visit.

A link to a free report

This could be part of your call to action; it’s a way of enhancing your credibility as an expert and helps you to keep in touch with your visitor.

Anchor text

A keyword or keyword phrase that you want to build SEO strength for. For example, if I wanted to build search engine strength for the term Article Writing And Marketing I’d link the phrase to my blog.

How to write a an effective resource box

It’s best to start you resource box in the article body. If your article resource box flow seamlessly from your article, your reader will be reading the resource box without even realising that they’re there. I strongly recommend that you avoid announcing the end of your article. Thanks go to Jeff Herring for that tip.

The article resource box isn’t really a box. It’s the next line of text; you can use this to your advantage.

When you craft your resource box, think about what your reader is likely to respond to and give them a good reason to click through to your site. Don’t waste the resource box trying to prove that you’re an expert. If your article hasn’t already convinced your reader of that, you’ve already lost your reader.

The important thing to remember when writing your resource box is that the resource box isn’t about you. Your reader is more concerned with what’s in it for them than they are in learning about you. Make sure your resource box passes the “so what” test.

What not to include in your resource box

• A list of all your websites or blogs. Stick to one URL that is related to your article.
• A list of your qualifications. Your reader isn’t interested. Keep your resource box short and to the point.
• Advertisements for products that aren’t related to your article.

Make your resource box work for you

Your resource box is the only place in your article where you can actively promote what you have to offer. It’s worth taking time to get it right. Create different resource boxes for different specialities. Don’t use the same resource box for every article you write. Tailor your resource box to your article and make sure you give your reader a good reason to click through to your website.

Follow the rules

Read the submission guidelines posted on the article directory site. These guidelines show you the steps you need to follow to get your article posted. Different directories have different requirements. Read the guidelines,follow them closely and your efforts will be rewarded.

Demonstrate your expertise

By writing extensively on a particular subject or similar subjects within a broader category, you become known as an expert. This often leads to having your articles accepted automatically. However, submitting articles on lots of very different topics might alert the article directory owner to the possibility that you are a spammer. If you want to submit articles on a wide variety of topics consider using different user names or a pen name if the rules allow. Alternatively, you could submit different topics to different directories.

If you are using PLR, re-write your articles

Don’t use articles straight from the article pack. Article directories always delete duplicate articles. Duplicate articles are always deleted from article directories. Article directories are looking for original content, make sure you give them what they’re looking for, become a trusted source.

Always submit quality articles

It’s worth the time and effort.  When I’m looking for content, I look for particular authors who I know write good articles. Aim to be in that category and you’ll soon have lots of backlinks from all over the web.

 If you’re in doubt about anything, ask the directory owner

It’s much easier to get the article right the first time than to spend time and effort rewriting or even being taken off the list of approved writers.

I use article submission to drive traffic to my websites because I know it works. That’s one of the reasons I encourage people to write and submit articles.

I stopped submitting to article directories other than Ezine Articles because it took too long to submit all of my articles manually to lots of different article directories.

Many people start an article submission campaign and give up because it’s too much of a slog. Copying and pasting information into the required textboxes on each submission site, simply takes too much time. Most people give up, deciding that their time is better spent doing something else. The downside to that is that they miss out on free search engine traffic and lots of valuable one way links.

You only have to input your article criteria into the software once. The program automatically fills in all of the required data at each of the article directories. The software makes it easy to submit articles to lots of different article directories and take advantage of a very effective SEO strategy.

I’m amazed that this program is free, but it is completely free, and there’s no catch.

The software has over 700 article directories in it’s database. It’s a straightforward program and easy to use.

You simply need to

• Put your article details – title, description, article body, author’s bio…into the software
• Click on the directory you want to submit to

And then the program automatically fills in your article details. You then click the submit button and your article is instantly submitted to the directory you choose.

Then, you can move to the next directory, work your way through the list, and submit your article to as many directories as you like. By the time you’re finished you’ll have lots of one way links pointing to your website.

It’s a relatively easy way to get one way links to you site. Though I do recommend that if you’re going to get lots of links that quickly, you need to submit different variations of your articles, to make things look more natural to the search engines.
